Alan Champion

Alan Champion picAmong the shows Alan Champion has interpreted through Hands On are Measure for Measure, The Golem, Los Trios Ringbarkus, Whoopi Goldberg’s Ghost Stories (director, interpreted performance), Bloolips’ Get Hur, Resident Alien, Dinner with Demons and The Little Flower of East Orange.  In addition, he worked with Linda Bove as Sign Master of Deaf West Theatre's production of Pippin at the Mark Taper Forum.  Also with Linda, Alan interpreted for 15 years on the set of the beloved children's educational television program, Sesame Street.  

Among the roughly 100 Broadway shows he has interpreted are Next to Normal, Rent, Dame Edna: Back with a Vengeance, Avenue Q, Aida, Jekyll & Hyde, Tommy, Falsettos, Grapes of Wrath, M Butterfly, A Chorus Line and Elephant Man.  Alan is one of the founders of "Interpreting in the Theatre," an annual workshop sponsored by the Theatre Development Fund in New York and held at the Juilliard School.  A professional singer, he has performed with such choral ensembles as The Princeton Singers and St. Clement's in Philadelphia.  Alan currently sings with the nine-voice liturgical choir at St. Mary the Virgin (Smoky Mary's) in New York City.

Alan passed away on April 22, 2011.
