Stephanie Feyne

Stephanie Feyne (CSC, CI & CT) has been interpreting for over 30 years.  While studying theatre at California State University, Northridge, she met Deaf actors and directors, and was inspired to learn American Sign Language (ASL). Stephanie has worked as an actor and interpreter in Deaf theatres, TV series and videos, and has interpreted for hearing theatres when they have hired Deaf actors.  Since 1989, she has been interpreting for Hands On for the annual Shakespeare in the Park series as well as for Broadway and Off-Broadway venues.

Stephanie is a member of The Registry for Interpreters of the Deaf (RID) and Conference of Interpreter Trainers (CIT).  She teaches at the Interpreter Education Project at La Guardia Community College, and presents workshops both locally and nationally.  Stephanie was one of the instructors in the “Interpreting for the Theatre” national seminar sponsored by the Theatre Development Fund.  Her published articles in the RID Views include “Powerful Voicing” (2002) and “Interpreting for Theatre” (co-authored with Lynnette Taylor, 2001).
