SHAKESPEARE IS BACK!!!!!

We’re thrilled to return to Central Park this summer for Interpreted Free Shakespeare in the Park with MERRY WIVES, a fresh and joyous adaptation by Jocelyn Bioh of Shakespeare’s The Merry Wives of Windsor, directed by our Associate Artistic Director and Resident Director Saheem Ali.

THE STORY: Set in South Harlem, amidst a vibrant and eclectic community of West African immigrants, MERRY WIVES is a New York story about tricks of the heart, performed in the heart of the City—Central Park’s magical Delacorte Theater. A raucous spinoff featuring the Bard’s most beloved comic characters, this hilarious farce tells the story of the trickster Falstaff and the wily wives who outwit him in a new celebration of Black joy, laughter, and vitality.

  • Seats have no physical distancing. People sitting in these sections will be sitting directly next to other people.
  • Children 11 years or younger may accompany their vaccinated parent or guardian.
  • People ticketed into Full Capacity sections must show proof of full vaccination before entering the theater. People (age 12+) must have received their final vaccination dose at least 14 days (about 2 weeks) before the performance date (i.e., a second dose of Pfizer/Moderna or a single dose of Johnson & Johnson). We encourage you to use Health Pass by CLEAR at The Delacorte to streamline your entry into the venue. Learn more about all the ways to show proof of vaccination.
PHYSICALLY DISTANCED SECTIONS
  • Reserved for those who are not COVID-19 vaccinated, or the vaccination status of an individual(s) in the party is unknown.
  • Seats are limited and can be reserved in pods of 1 seat or 2 seats.
  • Unoccupied seats separate all seating pods.

Everyone, regardless of vaccination status, must wear a face mask for entry into the theater and when moving around.  More details about face masks. Those in Full Capacity sections have the option to remove their mask when sitting in their ticketed seat. Those in Physically Distanced sections must always keep a face mask on.

Further details and specifics at our SAFE IN THE PARK page, which is subject to change at any time.
